6 Indian Nobel Laureates

1. Ravindranath Tagore (1861-1941): Awarded Nobel Prize for literature in 1913. Gitanjali, Sadhana, Vibha are some of his important works. He founded Shanti Niketan which later became Vishwabharati University. 

2. Sir C. V. Raman (1888-1970): Famous physicist, he was awarded Nobel prize for physics in 1930 for his study of the Scattering of Light, popularly known as Raman Rays or Raman Effect.

3. Hargobind Khorana (b. 1922): Now an American citizen. He was awarded Nobel Prize for Medicine in 1968 for the interpretation of genetic code and its function in protein synthesis. 

4. Mother Theresa (1910-1997) born to Albanian parents, settled in India. Her name is Agnes Gonxh Bojaxhin, she established "Misionaries of Charity and she became an India? citizen in 1948. She was awarded Nobel Prize in 1979. 

5. Subramanian Chandrashekar (1910-1995): He was an American citizen. He is related to C. V. Raman. He was awarded Nobel Prize for Physics in 1983, for what is known as 'Chandrashekar's limit'. 

6. Prof. Anantyasen: He was awarded Nobel prize for Economics in 1998.
